In their online event “Steam On”, the swedish audio streaming service provider Spotify announced their plan to launch a new high-end subscription service called Spotify HiFi. Spotify said streaming music is still one of the most demanded features of users.
HiFi would allow the subscribers to listen to music in “CD-Quality, lossless audio format” and would host new features such as content deals for the artists.
Spotify plans to make their HiFi service to work across devices, inclusive Spotify Connect enabled speakers. The company is already working with some of the world’s “biggest speaker manufactures” to make HiFi accessible to more users via Spotify Connect.
HiFi would cost more than the usual premium monthly subscription, for obvious reasons. However, the price would vary by market. It will also be marketed as a Premium “add-on.”
Moreover, the company plans to expand its operations to 85 new worldwide markets across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe & Latin America.
