Netflix is officially launching its feature to find something to watch when you're stuck browsing and can't decide what to watch. The service is introducing a tool called "Play Something" to users worldwide — the final iteration of the "shuffle" feature you may have seen during Netflix's tests over the last year.
When you select it, Netflix will play another show or movie that it thinks you'll enjoy based on your preferences and prior viewing history.
It would play a movie or show you're already watching, a series or movie on your list, an unfinished series or movie you might want to revisit, or a brand new series or film recommended by Netflix's personalization algorithms.
The new option can be found on Netflix's TV app beneath your profile name, on the navigation menu to the left of your screen, and on the tenth row of your Netflix homepage — a location that Netflix hopes to find users after they've been scrolling for a while without finding anything they want to watch.
Before they churn out, Netflix needs to find a way to re-addict its current user base to what's available in its existing catalog.
The new Play Something feature is now available on Netflix TVs and will soon be tested on mobile devices, beginning with Android.
