Zoom today announced an expanded live events product that will be available this summer. Zoom Events expands on Zoom's previous paid event marketplace, OnZoom, by adding features to support larger multiday events as well as non-video activities such as chat.
Zoom says it is still developing Zoom Events in preparation for its launch, but as it stands, it is a new version of the more small-business-focused OnZoom, with new features that serve Zoom's original pre-pandemic customers — enterprise businesses. With a paid Zoom Meetings or Zoom Webinar license, you can host live events, organize them in a hub, sell tickets, and track stats like ticket sales or attendance, just like OnZoom.
Zoom is primarily focused on improving the experience for larger organizations by making Zoom Events more conducive to conferences or large group meetings that can be divided into multiple sessions.
Zoom is also expanding access to text chat in locations other than a typical video call. If you arrive at an event before or after the live video begins, you will be able to see who is in the event lobby, participate in a group chat channel and exchange contact information.
